Hidden Gem In East Altadena

Peeking between the branches of two Arbor Vitae we find a mid-size TV aerial. It's owned by the Allen family, who tells us this is a new piece of equipment, bought in early 2015 from a company called Mr Antenna. Mr Antenna, along with a southern accent and his brother Bill, mounted the piece to the drier exhaust pipe for $225.

Mr. Allen, the husband and father of three who ordered the antenna and supervised it's installation, uses the antenna to broadcast the Kentucky Derby during the annual party he hosts around the event. NBC, the long-time rights-holder to the event, was critical in the antenna's performance, and though Mr. Antenna and Bill were able to get the channel on the street, it apparently took some doing to get it to come in from the roof. The signal does come in, though the owner reports that there was some breakup, thankfully after the race.

Mr. Allen receives about 10-12 English language TV channels and some "two or three dozen" foreign  language channels. In addition to the Kentucky Derby, Mr. Allen has watched the women's World Cup soccer final, an episode of Mr. Belvedere and "some old Western."
